Mumbai: Heavy Rains Force to Defer 'Tribute to Jerome' Show

Media Release

Mumbai, Nov 30: Much anticipated, quality show which was scheduled to be held at Mira Road, Mumbai church open grounds last week has been forced to be rescheduled to January 22, 2011 due to heavy rains here during the day time of show of 'Tribute to Jerome D'Souza'

Heavy preparations were made, and highly sophisticated as well as effective sound systems were in place to create new dimension in the history of Konkani shows in Mumbai. Ryan D'Souza, son of legendary late Jerome D'Souza who was the man behind the show was not only totally disappointed, but incurred huge loss due to unexpected pouring.

"43 trained personnel right from carpenters, painters to set up the Ssage and screens,  electricians,  audio/ video technicians to set up sound and lights to sound engineers and video recordists descended upon the venue "St Joseph Grounds" Mira Road and worked day and night to ensure everything was up to the mark. As the works were on Nov 21and when I was set to go to the venue I got a call from Panvel that it was raining heavily, followed by dozens of calls from all over Mumbai saying that it was raining heavily. Soon rains followed at at Mira road too.." says Ryan who promises same quality with similar efforts for the show to be held on January 22, 2011 at the same venue.

A concept was conceived ten years ago to hold a concert in the memory of the legendary Konkani singer, writer  and composer, the late "Jerome D'Souza", who passed away on March 4, 2000.

"Actual work on the project started four months ago on August 1, 2010. It was a total uphill task, enlightening people about the project through the internet, e-mail, telephone and personal meetings not only in Mumbai and other cities in India but also to the extent of traveling all the way to Dubai for sponsorship and raising funds for the mammoth project," he said.

Ryan requests well-wishers of late Jerome D'Souza and Konkani music fans worldwide to support the show in form of sponsorship.
