Udupi: Bank unions protest against privatization bills

Udupi, Dec 16: The union government has taken up anti-people measures in the name of reforms. United forum of bank unions of Udupi staged a protest on December 16 against the privatization of banks and presenting the amendment for banking rules in the parliament.

Nationwide strike is called by nationalized banks on December 16 and 17. This protest was part of the same. All the nationalised banks in the district are closed.

AIBEA vehemently condemned the anti-people and anti-labour policies of the union government in the protest.

Leader Ramesh said, “Bank employees will face severe consequences due to the privatization of banks. They will be made to work for more hours. Already due to the reduction in staff, the existing staff has lots of work pressure. Managements are exerting pressure on employees.”

NCBE leader Supriya, AIBOA leader Ravishankar, All India BEFI vice president M Ratnakar Shenoy, Mario Mathias of Canara Bank and Avinash Hegde were present.
