Belagavi, Dec 16: Newly elected independent MLC Lakhan Jarkiholi said that it is wrong to hold his elder brother Ramesh Jarkiholi responsible for the defeat of BJP candidate for the council election, Mahantesh Kavatagimath. He said that the BJP candidate had to taste defeat as some BJP leaders held a meeting in private hotel and chalked out strategies for the election by reaching an understanding to break their votes.

Speaking to the media persons, Lakhan said 3,500 BJP votes have been cast in favour of the Congress and 2,400 Congress votes have been cast in favour of the BJP. He said he will consider the suggestion to join the BJP after discussing with his brothers. He noted that in the bypoll for the Lok Sabha seat, BJP leaders credit Ramesh Jarkiholi for the victory of the BJP candidate.

Minister Ashok said that the matter of either admitting Lakhan Jarkiholi into the BJP or taking action against Ramesh Jarkiholi and Balachandra Jarkiholi, is left to the discretion of the chief minister.
