Udupi: DC Kurma Rao oversees mustering process for MLC elections

Udupi, Dec 9: Mustering process for the MLC elections of local bodies was held on Thursday, December 9 under the leadership of Pradeep Kurdekar, tahsildar, at the taluk office at Bannanje.

Deputy commissioner (DC) Kurma Rao visited the center and inspected the activities. Speaking to reporters, DC Rao said, “All preparations are made for the biannual MLC elections of local bodies of Dakshina Kannada local authorities on December 10. All polling booths will be videographed. There are three candidates in the fray. If the code of conduct is violated, stringent action will be taken against the offenders.

“There are 158 polling booths for the MLC elections from local bodies of DK district. 158 elections officers, 158 assistant election officers, 158 micro observers, 158 Roof D, 158 route officers and 158 police personnel are assigned for this work. Polling officers are given required training. In total 2505 voters of gram panchayat, town panchayats and city panchayats will cast their votes.

”Casting of polls will take place from 8 am to 4 pm on December 10. There are 130 general, 26 sensitive and two highly sensitive polling booths. Mustering process was held in seven taluk centres.

“All polling booths are completely sanitized. All actions are taken to conduct transparent and peaceful polling with covid guidelines adherence,” he said.
