Mangaluru: Annual feast of St Joseph Vaz shrine Mudipu concluded

Mangaluru, Dec 7: The three days annual feast of St Joseph Vaz was concluded with solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by Maxim L Noronha, vicar general of Mangalore diocese on December 5, 2021 at 6pm. In his homily he enlightened about the urgency of forming the families in firm Catholic faith.

Fr Lancy Saldanha Kinnigoli, Fr Lawrence Cutinha assistant parish priest Holy Guardian Angels Church Angelore, Fr Rockwin Pinto professor St Joseph’s Seminary Fr Fedrick Monteiro parish priest Allipade, and other priests concelebrated the Eucharist.

The solemnly Eucharistic celebration of the last day of the feast was at 10:30 am presided over by Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, bishop emeritus Mangalore diocese. The parish council members along with the parish clergy welcomed bishop emeritus to the Shrine. Bishop in his homily explained the need of building the families of faith. Bishop prayed for the intentions of all the devotees during the Mass.

Second mass of the day (Kannada) was celebrated at 4 pm by Fr Jerald OFM Cap superior Farangipet Capuchin Friary and he spoke about the present situation of the Catholic families and the need of educating the families in faith in his homily.

Fr Assisi Rebello Shrine director thanked all the priests and expressed his gratitude to all those who worked for the smooth functioning of the annual feast.

The three days celebration of the annual feast with the theme, 'St Joseph Vaz: an inspiration to build the families of Faith’ was concluded on December 5, 2021. Thousands of devotees and pilgrims took part in the Eucharistic celebration, novenas and prayers. The devotees were given provision for Sacrament of Reconciliation at the Shrine. Many priests religious visited the Shrine and sought the blessings of St Joseph Vaz the patron.

During this annual feast Ramanatha Rai Ex MLA, U T Khadar MLA Mangaluru constituency, Mamatha D S Gatty ex zilla panchayat president, Chandrahas Karkera taluk panchayat president, Prashanth Kajava, Santhosh Kumar Rai Boliyar, Agnes D’Souza president of Ira gram panchayat visited the miraculous hill and sought blessings. All the pilgrims were given Anna Santharpane. Whole celebration ended with strictly following Covid restrictions given by the government.

The annual feast of St Joseph Vaz concluded by the lowering the flag of St Joseph Vaz by Maxim L Noronha the vicar general diocese of Mangalore along with Fr Assisi Rebello, director/ parish priest St Joseph Vaz Shrine Mudipu, Fr Richard D’Souza assistant parish priest Mudipu Church, Naveen D’Souza vice president, Dr Irine Veigas secretary of PPC and Shrine Committee members, PPC members and devotees.
