Asian Games: Indians Finish 6th, 7th in Men's 20km Walk


Guangzhou, Nov 21 (IANS) India's Harminder Singh and Baljinder Singh finished sixth and seventh respectively in the men's 20km walk final on the opening day of the track and field competition of the Asian Games here Sunday.

Chinese Wang Hao and Chu Yafei won the gold and silver while the bronze went to Hyunsub Kim of South Korea at the Aoti Main Stadium.

Wang won the gold with his season best timing of one hour 20 minutes and 50 seconds while his compatriot Chu finished second clocking 1:21:57 secs. Kim got the bronze after he finished the race with a timing of 1:22:47 secs.

The Indians were in the leading pack for the first two kilometres of the race, but kept falling as the race progressed. Harminder clocked 1:26:33 secs while Baljinder had a timing of 1:28:06 secs.
