Mumbai: Mumbai University awards doctorate to Durgappa U Kotiyawar

Mumbai, Nov 30: Mumbai university has awarded Ph D to Kannada department research student Durgappa U Kotiyawar for his thesis ‘Mumbai Kannada Gadya Sahitya’. Durgappa has written and submitted the thesis to the university under guidance from university head of the department of Kannada, Dr G N Upadhya.

The guide has expressed happiness that the book throws light on the prose works that are not created since the last 150 years.

Durgappa Kotiyawar hails from Solapur, Karnataka. He has secured postgraduate degree from Solapur university and M Phil from Mumbai university. He has published his thesis through Abhijith Prakashan. He has been writing articles for publication in newspapers.

He is a member of Kannadiga Patrakartara Sangha Maharashtra and other local organizations. He is serving as a teacher at Shivdi Kannada school at present.
