Kasargod: Stage actress Sumitra Rai passes away

Kasargod, Nov 29: Sumitra Rai (76), renowned stage actress and wife of senior stage actor of Tulu and Kannada drama field and founder of Sri Nandikeshwara Nataka Sangha, Late P B Rai passed away at her residence at Kunjathur near Manjeshwar on the morning of Monday, November 29.

Sumitra is survived by son TV and stage actor Raghavendra Rai and daughter, Cinema, stage and TV actress Shobha Rai.

Sumitra acted in several dramas and movies in her career spanning over 50 years. She started with stage acting in the renowned Gubbi Veeranna drama company and Sri Nandikeshwara Nataka Sangha, which was founded by her husband Basavaraja Badigera.

Final rites of Sumitra Rai will be held at her residence at Kunjathur at 10 am on Tuesday, November 30.

Tulu Nataka Kalavidara Okkuta expressed its deep condolences on the sad demise of Sumitra Rai.
