Special Correspondent

Panaji, Nov 17: International Film Festival of India’s (2010) short film centre (SFC) will have films by three Goan filmmakers selected in the 40 entries.

Two films by lady filmmakers will be competing in the Environment section while a film on psychic behaviour of man will compete in the International section.

Professor-cum-filmmaker Rajashree Bandodkar Karapurkar’s nine-minute-long short film titled `Visit to Bondla Zoo,’ is produced by Goa Forest Department. The film highlights Goa’s only mini zoo tucked in Bondla wildlife sanctuary situated 60 kms away from Panaji. The second film in the Environment section is by Nalini Elvino De Souza.

The 23-minute-long film is based on concept of water harvesting. This documentary aims to revive this ancient tradition and give solutions for living a water stress – free life.

Third film by a Goan filmmaker is by Ramprasad Adpaikar titled `Sin.’

Sin is a film that takes the audience through the mind and madness of a man, haunted by his past.

The environmental competition section will have 10 films while international competition will have 20 films pulled from across the world.

Entertainment Society of Goa’s Short Film Centre (SFC) had hit the controversy after local filmmakers questioned the spending on this section.

IFFI organisers had later trimmed the expense on this section by almost half during the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with Directorate of Film Festival.

The eminent international jury comprises acclaimed Indian film director Goutam Ghose (chairman), Russian actress and former Miss Universe Oxana Federova, French producer Patrick Jorge, actress Helene Cardona, and founder of the London Film Academy Daisy Gili.

The jury for the Vasudha Award includes environmental documentary filmmaker and winner of Green Oscars Naresh Bedi (Chairman), documentary filmmaker and UN wildlife conservation consultant Romulus Whitaker and Helmut Groschup, founder and director of the International Film Festival Innsbruck.
