Udupi: St Mary's English Medium School, Kannarpady celebrates NCC Day

Udupi, Nov 27: NCC Day was celebrated at St Mary's CBSE School under the leadership of School's Naval Unit on November 26. Major Prakash Rao, the vice principal and the ANO (Army) of Poorna Prajna Degree College, Udupi was the chief guest.

The celebration commenced with the guard of honour followed by a ceremonial parade by school’s NCC Naval wing. PO Cdt Adithi, who has been selected as the best JW Cadet of Mangalore Group level was honoured by the chief guest during the formal programme. The correspondent Fr Charles Menezes awarded the cadets of School's first batch of Navy wing with A Grade certificates.

The chief guest major Prakash Rao in his speech appreciated the school Mmanagement for encouraging the NCC Movement in the school with the best possible infrastructure. He said that NCC being an entry to the defense forces reforms the youth in to strong, focused and disciplined individuals. The correspondent in his address advised the cadets to be more active in NCC Movement with patriotic fervor and service mindedness.

The principal Fr Johnson Sequeira, assistant parish priest Fr Ashwin Aranha and vice principal Rita Quadros graced the occasion. NCC under officer Sharon from PPC was present on the occasion. The programme was coordinated by ANO Lancy Mendonca. Cdt Bhavana extended the words of welcome. Cdt Joanna proposed the vote of thanks. Cdt Jeshal and Cdt Pratham anchored the programme. The celebration ended with NCC anthem.
