Udupi's Suraiyya Anjum chosen as spokesperson of Youth Congress, first from coastal region

Udupi, Nov 27: Indian National Congress had organized ‘Young India Ke Bol’ elocution competition in order to select national level spokesperson for the party. Around 15,000 youngsters from all over the country took part in the competition. Out of this, 300 youth Congress spokespersons were selected in the competition that was held at the Youth Congress office of New Delhi.

From Karnataka, 10 orators had participated in the competition. Vice president of Udupi district Youth Congress, Suraiyya Anjum, who is a journalist by profession, was selected in the district level competition. Later she was selected among 180 competitors at the state level and sent to Delhi. At the national level Anjum was selected among the 30 competitors from a pool of 300 speakers. In the final round Anjum bagged the third spot and was felicitated with the National Youth Orator award and officially elected as the spokesperson of National Youth Congress.

On a press release, Deepak Kotian, president of district youth Congress said that this is a proud moment for all the Congress workers of the district as Anjum is the first woman spokesperson of the party from the coastal region and the district of Udupi.
