Mumbai Civic Employees Threaten to Go on Strike

Mumbai, Nov 16 (PTI) Over one lakh employees of the local civic body have threatened to go on strike from November 21 as they are unhappy about the proposed hike in the salary.

Civic employee unions led by Sharad Rao as well as Shiv Sena union Bhartiya Kamgar Sena have threatened to go on strike from Sunday-November 21.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has proposed 18 per cent hike as per sixth pay commission but the employees union had asked for 40 per cent hike and demanded that all contract labourers be taken on payroll.

"We are not satisfied with the proposed pay scale and we will go on strike from November 21," Municipal Union advocate Sukhdev Kashid said.
