Mumbai: Students of St Xavier’s, Ryan School interact with captain of U19 Gujarat cricket team

Mumbai, Nov 19: Students of St Xavier's group of schools and Ryan International group of schools had a rendezvous with Arya Desai, the captain of U -19 Gujarat cricket who is selected by the BCCI to play for India - Team A in the Under-19 Challenger one day tournament.

Arya Desai, an alumnus of Ryan International School–Surat who has now set his goal to play for India in the Under-19 World Cup Cricket in 2022 answered with master strokes a volley of questions fielded by the enthusiastic students of 49 schools across India in an online interactive session hosted by the Ryan Group of Schools, Mumbai.

The session got off with the prayer and the reading from the scriptures by Vansh Patel, Ansh Patel, and Sai More, followed by the welcome speech by Priyalof St. John's High School Aurangabad.

Expressing his gratitude to his alma mater, the founder-chairman Dr A F Pinto and the managing director Dr Grace Pinto of St Xavier’s and Ryan groups of schools, Arya recalled how his school went the extra mile so that he pursues his passion for cricket and maintains his academic achievements.

Students aspiring to make a career in cricket were extremely happy to receive the professional tips and techniques on the hand and eye coordination needed for a batsman, how to face a googly and how they can scale up their cricketing skills. The ever-increasing opportunities for the women cricketers spelled out by Arya Desai enthused the girls to make a career in cricket. Answering the questions of the students on how they should balance studies and sports, he impressed upon the students that sports and academics complement one another in bringing a holistic development of one’s personality.

Aligning with the vision of bringing holistic development of the students and making education relevant to the needs and aspirations of the students as envisioned by the founder chairman Dr A F Pinto and managing director Dr Grace Pinto, interactive sessions are held every month for the students of Ryan and St Xavier’s groups of schools by inviting professionals, legends, celebrities, distinguished alumni and eminent personalities from different walks of life.
