Mangaluru: St Agnes College organizes workshop on 'Stress Management'

Mangaluru, Nov 15: The department of Commerce at St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, organized a workshop on 'Stress Management', for the final year students, on November 10, 2021. The keynote speaker for the day was Ankith S Kumar, the Mental health and Wellness counsellor at Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management, Mangaluru. Anusha Noronha and Sangeetha Saldanha were the staff coordinators. Ritusha Harish presided over the programme as the emcee.

The workshop commenced with a prayer, followed by the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries on the dais. Anusha Noronha welcomed the gathering. Ankith, the keynote speaker, introduced the topic in a brief speech followed by Sr Dr M Venessa AC, the principal, who addressed the students on the importance of stress management. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Rhea Lilia Sequeira.

In the next part of the session, Ankith spoke about managing stress by considering it a necessary part of life. He touched on the topics of self-care, self-respect and stressed self-identity, the importance of living in the present moment and the difference between choice and chance. He conducted a happiness barometer test on the students called the 'Wheel of Happiness'.

He elaborated on the inter-relation between emotions and stress, anger management and its problems and the need for venting out emotions (ventilation process). The concept of stress, its types and mind control were discussed in detail followed by the tips to relieve stress which included the use of the senses – touch, smell, sound, taste and sight to do so.

Lastly, the session ended with a fun-filled 'Dance Therapy' that helped all the participants of the workshop to relax, relieve a little stress and take back home some good memories.

Anusha presented the vote of thanks again that marked the conclusion of the workshop on stress management.
