Mangaluru: Lively Children's Day celebrated at Mount Carmel Central School

Mangaluru, Nov 14: The most awaited celebration Children’s Day was celebrated at Mount Carmel Central School on November 13 in all its radiance, drive and liveliness. The day was a unique one for the children to come in their colourful traditional attire and add-ons. The children also took part in the creative talent competition giving vent to their imagination through art and craft, dance and fancy dress.

Commemorating the birth of India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and dedicating the day to all the children, the programme began with a prayer service. The welcome dances encapsulated all the fun and frolic of childhood.  The children enjoyed the passionate, powerful, colourful and lovable programme of greetings, dance and songs put up by their teachers. Further, tapping to the rhythm of Rajasthani melody, the teachers regaled the students with a scintillating dance performance. The significance of the day was presented by the teachers. The hilarious act by the teachers left the children in bouts of laughter. The spice in the programme was the entertainment of the PET’s along with ancillary staff who dressed up and danced as mascots.

Principal Sr Melissa beamed with joy seeing and listening to the heart beat of all her students and addressing them as beautiful flowers of Mount Carmel school. She urged them to bloom and spread fragrance of love, joy, care and concern towards a better humanity. She thanked God for bringing the children to the school which now bubbles with life and vigour and for giving an opportunity to celebrate the Children’s Day this year in school and to cherish the bond teachers have with the children. Administrator Sr Carissima greeted the children on behalf of the school management and blessed them for a better future.

The programme was compeered by teachers Sumana, Navya and Ophilia. Teacher Poornima delivered the vote of thanks. The head girl Tanisha acknowledged the felicitation by the teachers with words of appreciation and applause. It ended with a mass and mask dance where the laughter was deafening, the tapping of the feet was vigorous, the pulse beat going haywire yet the heart beat of every child saying “blessed to be a child" and every teacher saying “we are blessed to have you here”.

On the previous day, Children’s Day was celebrated for the kindergarten kids. It was a feast to the eyes to see the little ones go up and down the slides,  go round and round on the merry go round and ride 'vroom vroom' on their bikes. Their chitter chatter, their laughter truly echoed in the ears of every teacher who lavish so much love and care on them.
