Mangaluru, Nov 2: Canara Catholic Educational Cooperative Society celebrated its 75th annual day at the hall of St Aloysius High School. Retired Bishop, Aloysius Paul D'Souza, speaking after distributing scholarships to the students, observed that many organisations and institutions, kind hearted people and large-hearted donors have been extending helping hand to enable students to carve out a better future. He regretted that there is also the phenomenon of the students forgetting everything after getting education and bagging a plum job. He called upon the students to contribute to extend double the help they got from the society in the past.

Another chief guest, Fr Melvyn J Pinto, rector of St Aloysius College, in his address, expressed the view that none of the students should be deprived of education for want of money. He said that the St Aloysius group of educational instructions evinces a lot of interest towards this end. He said that the St Aloysius Cooperative Society has served the education sector for the last 75 years in a memorable way.

Roy Castelino, another honourable guest, who happens to be the public relations officer of Mangaluru diocese, said that the societies have been contributing immensely at the taluk, district, and state level. He hailed the society for helping the students to shape their future in a beautiful way. M P Noronha, who has risen into a successful lawyer being a member and customer of the society, said that this institution has been helping the students to occupy great positions, duly wishing that the society will continue to contribute its might for the cause of education. He said that the society has been a leading light for a lot of students since the last four to five decades.

Mementoes were presented to office bearers, directors, and other well-wishers who have served as office bearers, directors and well-wishers during the last 75 years.

At the beginning, president of the society, Rudolph D'Silva welcomed. Vice president Sushil Noronha, proposed the vote of thanks.
