Mangaluru: Annual national level contest 'Agnathon 2K21’ held at St Agnes PU College

Mangaluru, Oct 27: “Success is relevant and so is losing since both are not permanent,” opined well known actress and playback singer Esther Noronha in her chief guest speech at the valedictory of ‘Agnathon 2k21’, the annual national level inter-school and inter-collegiate contest, organised by St Agnes PU College, Mangaluru on Wednesday October 27. Stating that ups and downs are common in life, Esther called upon students to never stop learning and never stop exhibiting their talents in life. She also advised the students to choose their career wisely and not to lose hope in life in any situation.

The programme began with the prayer song, followed by a mesmerising welcome dance depicting the different roles of a woman in society.

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and as a bid to follow the social distancing measures, various competitions of Agnathon were conducted online. A total of 12 schools & 10 PU colleges participated actively in the contest. The contest comprised of Danfactio (Dance Contest), Thunder Struck (Western Solo Singing), Technova (Science Model), Pensmith (Pencil Sketch), Carvastic (Vegetable fruit carving), Poster Attack (Poster Making) and Star of Agnathon.

In the high school category, Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru were runners up and St Aloysius High School, Mangaluru bagged the overall winner’s trophy.

In the PU category, St Aloysius PU College, Mangaluru were runners up and Expert PU College, Valachil were the overall winners of the event.

Dr P V Shobha welcomed the gathering, Shailaja proposed vote of thanks and Danica Winola D’Souza compered the programme.

College joint secretary Sr Dr Lydia Fernandes, former superior general Sr Dr Agatha Mary, college principal Sr Norine D’Souza, vice principal Sr Janet Sequeira, PTA vice president Ravi Bhat, joint secretary Jane Saldanha, Agnathon convenors Venitia, Preema, Carol, Sharline, student president Privy D’Souza and vice president Calvish D’Souza were present on the dais. The entire programme was a great success and all the efforts taken came out in rainbow colours.
