Oct 20: Dakshina Kannada reports 29 corona cases, Udupi adds 15 infections

Mangaluru/Udupi, Oct 20: Dakshina Kannada on Wednesday, October 20 reported 29 new coronavirus cases while Udupi registered 15 cases.

As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 20,24,966 samples have been tested so far, out of which 19,09,805 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,15,161 out of which 297 are currently active.

As many as 33 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,676.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,07,22,670 as fine in 88,294 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 11,92,412 samples have been tested so far.

A total of 15 new cases were reported on Wednesday, taking the total number of cases to 76,616 out of which 53 are currently active.

A total of 9 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday.

Out of 15 new patients, 9 are in home isolation while 6 are in Covid-designated hospitals.

Coronavirus has claimed 476 lives in the district so far.

So far 9,07,455 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 4,67,044 have received the second dose.

A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far and one case is active.
