Kuwait: Excellent Weather Heightens Joy at KCWA Family Get Together - 2010

Kuwait, Oct 30: Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA), one of the largest associations here held annual picnic/ family get together at Ahmadi Garden on Friday October 29 from 9.30 am onwards.
The weather was quite favourable with cool winds which was relaxing for most of the kids soon after their exams. A mini zoo located close to the picnic spot was another attraction to the animal lovers. It was a day for the participants of the picnic to take the pleasure in the various sporting activities. The programme was well arranged under the presidentship of Rudy D’Souza and with fluent and professional announcements and control from the management committee member and volunteers of KCWA.

The programme commenced with invoking blessings from God led by the management committee member Lavina Furthado. This was followed by welcome speech by the KCWA president Rudy D'Souza. Pascal Pinto, former president of KCWA was the chief guest. The day was fully entertaining and sporty with many games arranged for all the age categories.











































The games kicked off with passing the ball blind folded by the management executive committee members soon followed by elimination card game, lemon and  the spoon, sack race, balancing glass of water on outer side of water and walking, threading the needle, musical chairs, pass through the hulla hoop, dodge ball, filling water by hands, housie-housie, kicking the ball into hulla hoop, aiming the ball into the hulla hoop, breaking the pot, tug-of-war and some fun games.

The senior citizens also participated in games like placing bindis on girl’s forehead blind folded and peeling orange for the longest skin. Games were conducted by Steven, Lavina, Jossy, Sunitha, Wilson, Margaret, Kiran, Alex, Manu and Wilfred. Grace before meals was led by Fr Harry. Delicious lunch from M & M Confectionary was served to all. 

The fun-filled and entertaining day came to an end with closing prayer by Margaret.

    I was there, weather was good. Every one enjoyed a lot. Lots of games, good entertainment. Food too was good. Well organised by KCWA.

    Beautiful event. However, its amusing to see, that the creativity level of Mangaloreans, has not risen above the level of sack races and passing the ball etc. which is seen at practically every event held by the community. Maybe the reason is "get the program done and finished with" rather than give the youngsters a chance to be creative and innovative.
