Former cricketer Yuvraj Singh arrested, released on bail: Reports

New Delhi, Oct 18 (IANS): Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh was reportedly arrested by the Hansi Police in Haryana on Saturday in a case lodged against him for using a casteist slur against spinner Yuzvendra Chahal.

According to reports, Yuvraj was interrogated for three hours before being released on interim bail. "Yuvraj Singh was arrested under section 153A and section 505 of the Indian Penal Code," it said.

It is learnt that the incident dates back to June 2020 when Yuvraj made a derogatory remark, although jokingly, towards Chahal during an Instagram Live session with India opener Rohit Sharma.

While speaking with Sharma about 'hahal's famous Tik-Tok and Instagram videos, Yuvraj made an indecent remark, which was of casteist in nature, aiming for the RCB leggie.

    He is on target just because his father is a critic of BJP. Yuvi made a mistake unknowingly in a joke which he shouldn't have said on camera. He is known for the helpful nature who was praised by PM way back in 2017 for his charity works. Currently he has his own foundation under 'Youwecan' name with the vision to eradicate the stigma associated with cancer.

    this fellow was arrogant right from the word go....but was a gutsy player no doubt...very poor in controlling emotions...only cricketers like Rahu Dravid, Laxman, Tendulkar are the superheroes...who kept their cool and even till date they are respected on and off the field...when Anil Kumble joined INdian team Kapil Dev spoke ill about him...he also said that south Indians cannot be good pace bowlers and Srinath and Prasad made him eat his words..

    No kujuma..Yivraj is one of tne finest players India has ever had.There is still no replacement for him in the current indian team.Arrogance i dont think so but aggressive yes and a little bit of agression is needed in cricket especially against teams like australia and pakistan which may bring out your best performance.He is a match winner in true sense but his career started to dip after cancer.Chahal had no problems but some moron found the word derogatory.Yuvi should ignore the matter and move on.
