Mangaluru, Oct 13: Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai arrived at Mangaluru International Airport on Wednesday October 13.

When asked about plans to relax Covid guidelines on the border areas, Bommai said, “Soon after Dasara, we will conduct an assessment meeting and then take a call. The decision on reopening of primary schools also will be taken.”

Regard vaccines for children, he said, “There are certain norms. Once it is finalized, we will come up with vaccination plans for children.”

On rising moral policing cases and the MLA allegedly escorting the moral policing accused, he said, “Moral policing is a sensitive issue. Everyone should take responsibility in the society. Society has sentiments and we should see that the same are not hurt. When sentiments are hurt, there will be actions and reactions and it is normal. We should maintain social harmony. There has to be morality in the society.”

From Mangaluru, Bommai will proceed to Udupi. He will visit Kudroli Gokarnatheshwara temple in the evening.

Due to chief minister’s visit, entry for devotees is restricted from 3 pm to 7 pm at Kudroli temple.

Deputy commissioner Dr K V Rajendra, minister Sunil Kumar, MLA Dr Bharath Y Shetty and others were present.

I had high regards to the CM as he was a well educated CM that the state of Karnataka saw after a long time. Today he lost his credibility to continue as the CM of Karnataka by saying people can take the law into their hands, in a way he has encouraged people to kill each other, what kind of a CM he is when he cannot uphold the Constitution of India, I cannot imagine someone can stoop so low to save their chair. God Save the State of Karnataka from this kind sick mentality and this kind of rulers.

The statement by the Chief Minister is really misleading. If sentiments are hurt, then people can take law in their hands! Reaction vs Action! Is he condoning the action of people who are a law unto themselves? It is really a sad state of mind. If the chief minister is of this mind, what about the people? Are we fencing the society dividing it into caste, creed, religion, region, etc.? This statement by the chief minister is condemnable. What kind of law and order we can expect then from this government?

Our Chief Minister has given some sort of vague statements. Particularly with regard to Moral Policing. Haavu saayabharadhu, Koalu Muriyabharadhu yembanthe helidhare. Yidhi badukuva aloachane. He has not said about the action needs to be taken those who indulge in Morl policing activities. Why it is so? His duty is to stop such activities and not giving round about statements.

When the Govt does not have any morality and responsibility why do we need to expect something good to happen. At the moment for the lust of power you can play with the sentiments. What after that. People will start killing each other very soon. When there is no peace what is the use? Every action there will be a reaction. The CM was only wearing a secularist mask in the beginning.

Bomma said ‘There Should be Morality in the Society’. So, is he using moral police to maintain morality in the society. So, he is defending thier action and protecting these illegal elements in the society??????. It is clear now BJP govt has given authority and rights to criminal street goons as moral police to take law in thier hands. Now even courts will accept moral police’s statement to execute a person who is following the constitution?????…..

Bommai made a good start, but over the months has been brainwashed , now to hold on to his chair, he behaves like a puppet. In his statement about moral policing, he has given the green signal to the goons, I fail to understand why then do we need the men in khaki, if the uncouth saffron goons take law in their hands and harass the public, who gives them the right to accost couples & harass & insult them ?? Every action will have a reaction, we are heading towards a lawless society.

I feel bjp is trying to protect Hindus, but I see nothing they do to make a better society.. ultimately they are doing nothing in veiw of God.

Mangalore is going to be smart city but all the youth will have to go either Bangalore or stay in foriegn countries because of this type of act of goondaism. it stopped for a while but again has begun iys work. There will be no companies willing to set business in Mangalore if this goes on. People stand together against this kind of goonda activities. The people like Sharan Pumpwell know very well that they got Goverment support and Law is easy to bend. you can see why Muslim youth involved in these kind of moral policing are filed under Goonda act and Hindus involved go scot free by help of MLAs

Yes, it was a very diplomatic reply. He didn't want to displease his MLA who is seen here in one of the photos and who is said to be behind the release of the rowdies indulging in immoral policing. This will only embolden the anti social elements and don't be surprised if you find more such acts in the days to come. The problem with politicians these days is they are only interested about their chair.

Illicit policing is one of the most dangerous trend, our nation is going through. It will create mafia's in some form or the other. Middle class thinks they are saving society. They are not. If they are truly want to help law and order and police, let them act as informers to police. Not, act as police.

Instead of condemning illegal policing (we should never call it "moral" policing), unfortunately general words like "sentiments" etc used. Illegal policing is failure of system. Political power should be used for strengthening the system sir. Sentiments are different for different people but law should be one. I have huge respect to our CM. Hope our system will get more strength and all policing will happen as per constitutional framework and not on sentiments

Violence as a response to emotional hurt is a hallmark of primitive society and not a progressive one. In a nutshell, this action-reaction theory is just an admission to this fact that we are going backwards instead of forward in the path to human progress. We created laws to control the lawless behavior of people through punishments. When there is no fear of law, probably due to failure in proper implementation, violent instincts in humans takes over and humans are not able to moderate their responses to provocative behavior of others. With proper implementation of laws, humans can moderate their natural instincts and become more responsible to build a progressive society. Unfortunately, we have failed on all counts so far.
