Sep 23: DK reports 105 corona cases, three deaths; Udupi adds 69 infections

Mangaluru/Udupi, Sep 23: Dakshina Kannada on Thursday, Sep 23 reported 105 new coronavirus cases and three deaths, while Udupi registered 69 new cases.

As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 17,98,431 samples have been tested so far, out of which 16,84,811 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,13,620 out of which 1,080 are currently active.

As many as 148 patients were discharged from hospitals on Thursday.

The district recorded three deaths due to coronavirus on Thursday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,643.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,06,48,670 as fine in 87,560 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 11,11,330 samples have been tested so far.

A total of 69 new cases were reported on Thursday, taking the total number of cases to 75,976 out of which 450 are currently active.

A total of 147 patients were discharged from hospitals on Thursday.

Out of 69 new patients, 56 are in home isolation while 13 are in Covid-designated hospitals.

Among the 69 cases, as many as 42 are symptomatic and 27 are asymptomatic.

While Udupi reported 43 new cases, Kundapur registered 8 and Karkala 17 and one case was from out of the district.

Coronavirus has claimed 471 lives in the district so far.

So far 8,87,392 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 3,85,680 have received the second dose.

A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far and one case is active.
