Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (DV)

Mangaluru, Sep 22: A 24-year-old air-conditioning mechanic working for MCF lost his life after being attacked by a swarm of wasps here on Wednesday September 22.

The deceased is identified as Keshav alias Kitta (24), son of Sadhashiva and Kamalakshi of Patlachil in Yedapadavu.

Keshav had reportedly climbed a coconut tree at his neighbour’s house with the help of an equipment purchased by him to pluck coconuts on Sunday. While climbing the tree, accidently, his head touched the Wasps’ nest. The insects immediately attacked Keshav.

It is said that the deceased sustained nearly 70 stings on his body. He was rushed immediately to the hospital in Moodbidri. After primary treatment, he was shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru. As Keshav failed to respond to the treatment, he breathed his last.

Keshav was unmarried and is survived by three brothers.

While a possibility of Allergic reaction cause of death - in all probability proper emergency treatment / valuable time lost - Lack of training to handle such cases - -- Shifting from one Hospital to the other -- moodabidri to m'lore --- possibly not as per the emergency reqmts --- valuable time lost as they say Golden hour ---as making person stable should have been the goal- ------------------------------------ Anyway now it is a great unbearable loss for near and dear ones and may his soul rest in peace-

Such a sad incident. May God bless his soul. The Chinese have developed a fire drone to burnout the nest of wasps. Its risky but worth it to eliminate such pests.

Almighty God, we pray to you, for you are always there, always ready to be found. We thank you for being our hiding place. We run to you when the great waves of grief rise and threaten to overcome us. Watch over all of us in our distress over losing our dear one. Surround everyone with songs of deliverance when we are in the valley of sorrow and feel like we cannot go on. Counsel everyone and encircle every one with your mercy and loving devotion. Amen.
