Bantwal: B C Road-Addahole four-lane highway project gets momentum

Daijiworld Media Network - Bantwal (SP)

Bantwal, Sep 22: After a long pause, work on the long-awaited 63 kilometre -long B C Road - Addahole stretch of national highway 75 has come to life. Preliminary processes are under way now.

Contract for the 48 km stretch of the highway between B C Road and Periyashanti has been bagged by Hyderabad-based KNR Constructions Ltd for Rs 1,100.88 crore. The remaining 15 km road from Periyashanti to Addahole has been allotted to S M Authade Pvt Ltd from Maharashtra for Rs 317 crore. Machinery required for laying the road is being installed at Udane in Shiradi.

Initially the entire road widening contract was bagged by L&T. The speed at which the company began work initially had given rise to the expectation that the entire work might be finished in a couple of years. But because of technical hitches and problems of forest land etc, the company had withdrawn from executing the contract.

Kalladka flyover: Preparations for the flyover on the six-lane road at Kalladka have begun. Preliminary work like geological verification between Poorlipady to K C Road is under way. For the installation of huge pillars, examination of sand and rocks in the earth are being undertaken. After considering various options like bypass road, underpass, flyover etc the National Highways Authority of India has finalised flyover at Kalladka.

National Highways Authority of India project director at Mangaluru, Shishumohan, said that once the appointed date is finalised, all the works on the highway will begin together and currently only preliminary processes have been undertaken.

No wonder L&T walked away! God alone knows how much will be spent on road actually! Few hundred crores out of it will be filling bags as usual. Thats the reason we have to manage with bad roads. You pay toll, any kind of tax and so on....just an example - Road from Surathkal to Kuloor! Its certainly a rocket technology to fix this road for the past two decades! Tolls are a way to make money not for the development of common man!

This is ridiculous. There's something fishy here. What type of a contract is this? Didn't the concerned authorities do a survey of the entire areas prior to awarding the project and suggesting remedial measures to avoid delays? Probably L&T must've penalised the concerned authorities for shoddy work and recovered their contractual amount with applicable interest (wherever applicable). We will never know due to a "matter of prestige".

Please make sure roads are properly planned and laided. Specially proper lane and space for u turns and exits and of course a proper service road. Below amounts are more than enough to make roads 3 times more longer lengths Contract for the 48 km stretch of the highway between B C Road and Periyashanti has been bagged by Hyderabad-based KNR Constructions Ltd for Rs 1,100.88 crore. The remaining 15 km road from Periyashanti to Addahole has been allotted to S M Authade Pvt Ltd from Maharashtra for Rs 317crore.

Thanks Rohan Dsouza for your trust in present govt. Things which not able to do even after ruling sixty years..are changing in rapid phase. For that reason it's essential to bear toll taxes, increase in prics of petrol/diesel/gas. While assuming office by BJP in 2014 ex-chequer was empty and debt of nation was on high.

L& T is good for all types of work. But the politicians involvement and land acquiring problem, it's difficult to complete the work.
