Downward trend in Covid cases continues in state, fatality rate at 2%

Bengaluru, Sep 5: Coronavirus cases in Karnataka continued to see a downward trend on Sunday September 19, with the state recording 783 new infections.

As per the bulletin released by the state health department, the active cases in the state stand at 15,383. Among the districts, Bengaluru Urban registered the highest number of single-day cases with 267 new infections, while Dakshina Kannada reported 97 new cases.

As many as 16 deaths due to coronavirus were reported in the state on Sunday, with Bengaluru Urban alone recording 7 fatalities. With this, the toll so far has risen to 37,603.

The state recorded 1,139 discharges from hospitals, taking the total discharges so far to 29,14,852.

So far, Karnataka has seen 29,67,866 positive cases since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.

The positivity rate for the day stands at 0.60%, while the case fatality rate for the day was also 2.04%.

As many as 5,19,77,270 people have received vaccination so far.
