Sep 15: DK reports 102 corona cases, Udupi 89; two deaths in twin district

Mangaluru/Udupi, Sep 15: Dakshina Kannada on Wednesday, Sep 15 reported 102 new coronavirus cases and one death, while Udupi registered 89 new cases and one death.

As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 17,09,124 samples have been tested so far, out of which 15,96,474 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,12,650 out of which 1,419 are currently active.

As many as 258 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday.

The district recorded one death due to coronavirus on Wednesday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,624.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,06,07,270 as fine in 87,146 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 10,62,971 samples have been tested so far.

A total of 89 new cases were reported on Wednesday, taking the total number of cases to 75,348 out of which 1,526 are currently active.

A total of 121 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday.

Out of 89 new patients, 77 are in home isolation while 12 are in Covid-designated hospitals.

Among the 89 cases, as many as 48 are symptomatic and 41 are asymptomatic.

While Udupi reported 47 new cases, Kundapur registered 14 and Karkala 28.

Coronavirus has claimed 460 lives in the district so far.

So far 8,43,589 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 3,29,993 have received the second dose.

A total of 52 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.

    Though restrictions are there in place to wear masks , social distribution in etc., these rules are only for very common people as see here.For big people, politicians etc. no rules at all.Religious festivals are conducted without any restrictions,, again schools have started in fee places.I saw many small children waiting in bus stop for catching g buses.Buses are running with maximum passengers without adhering Corona rules....
