Goa Police to Enquire into SP's Boat Ride

Panaji, Oct 12 (PTI): Goa Police have initiated enquiry after its senior officer was found fishing in a sophisticated boat meant to guard state's coast.

Superintendent of Police (Anti Narcotic Cell) Veenu Bansal was photographed by a local newspaper while angling in a boat that belongs to Goa Marine Police force.

The photograph also shows Bansal's guests enjoying a day out wearing lifejackets meant for Goa Marine Police force.

A senior police officer stated that the department has initiated an enquiry in the matter.

"We have taken note of it. I can not tell you more than this," Police spokesman Atmaram Deshpande told reporters today.

When contacted, Bansal refused to comment stating that only Director General of Police will be able to make comment on the issue.

Bansal, an Indian Police Service Officer, heads the crucial Anti Narcotic Cell which recently hit headlines in the police-drug peddler nexus case.
