CWG Wrestling: Sushil, Anuj, Joginder Enter Finals


New Delhi, Oct 10 (IANS) Led by Beijing Olympic bronze medallist Sushil Kumar, three Indian wrestlers stormed into the finals of the men's freestyle category here Sunday.

They will now fight their final bouts at K.D. Jadhav wrestling stadium at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex here Sunday evening.

Sushil, who had made history by winning a gold medal in the world wrestling championship last month, reached the finals of the 66 kg category. He defeated Gambian wrestler Famara Jarjou in the first bout.

Sushil will now face South Africa's Heinrich Barnes in the final.

In the 84 kg category, Anuj Kumar entered into the final after defeating Nigerian Andrew Dick. He will now wrestle with Mohammad Inam of Pakistan for the gold.

Joginder Kumar will face Indian-origin Canadian wrestler Arjan Singh in the final bout of the 120 kg category. Joginder outclassed Australian Denis Roberts in the semifinal.

Anil Kumar entered the repechage round of the 55 kg category. Pakistan's Azhar Hussain would fight Nigeria's E. Welson in the final of this category.

Wrestling has so far fetched India nine gold, three silver and two bronze medals.
