Pujara Makes Test Debut, Replaces Injured Laxman


Bangalore, Oct 9 (IANS) Gujarat youngster Cheteshwar Pujara made his Test debut Saturday when he was included in the India team for the second cricket Test against Australia in place of the injured batsman V.V.S.Laxman.

Chennai batsman Murali Vijay and Kerala pacer S. Sreesanth replace opener Gautam Gambir and speedster Ishant Sharma who were dropped for the match because of their injuries.

Winning the toss, Australia chose to bat under cloudy and windy conditions at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium here.

In the Australian line-up, Peter George was taken in place of seamer Doug Bollinger.

India: M.S. Dhoni (captain and wicket-keeper), Virender Sehwag, Murali Vijay, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Cheteshwar Pujara, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Pragyan Ojha and S. Sreesanth.
