Kuwait: KRCS Delivers 180 Truckloads of Supplies to Flood Victims in Pakistan


KUWAIT, Oct 9( Kuwait Times): Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) teams have delivered 180 truckloads of relief supplies to Pakistanis, victims of recent devastating floods that swept many regions leaving millions of people without homes.

Declaring wrap-up of the first phase of the Kuwaiti relief operation for the Pakistani flood victims, in a press release yesterday, the head of the KRCS team to Pakistan, Khaled Al-Ghais, said it would be replaced with a new group of activists, affirming that the State of Kuwait would continue dispatch of assistance supplies to stricken regions in Pakistan to sooth the victims' suffering.

The Kuwaiti volunteers have delivered up to 180 trucks loaded with 10,000 tents, 50,000 mattresses, 10,000 housing utensils, large amounts of flour, cereals, dates, medical supplies, canned food and various nutrition supplies, said Al-Ghais, adding that the items had been purchased from the local markets in Pakistan.

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense employed 12 aircraft for transporting the humanitarian supplies to the stricken regions and the Pakistani diplomatic mission there, namely Ambassador Nawaf Al-Enezi, gave all necessary facilities for the Kuwaiti field teams, he said.

He praised the board members of the society, namely the Chairman, Barjas Homoud Al-Barjas, for the outstanding efforts for relieving the needy in Pakistan.
