Riyadh: Karavali Challengers Win KWAR Volleyball Tourney

Riyadh, Oct 4:  The Karavali Challengers prevailed over Bankal Sports Club to win the ‘KWAR Volleyball Tournament 2010’ held at Yamama Hotel Grounds here on Friday October 1.

 

Despite losing their star player Rizwan due to injury in the first minutes of play, the Bankal Sports team fought courageously. However they lost to Karavali Challengers in the direct sets.

Karavali Challenger’s sticker Moosa won the ‘Player of the Tournament’ award. Total eight teams contested in the tournament which is played during two days in the floodlit play grounds of Yamama Hotel.  Karavali Challengers and Bankal Sports Club put two teams each along with Uchila Friends, Saudi Carpet Company, Suralpady Friends (SCFC) and Panorama Eagles.
 
The tournament was inaugurated on September 30 by KWAR president Ramesh Shetty. The vice-president Royston Prabhu and general secretary Rajesh Kumar presided over the ceremony.
A large number of fans gathered at the venue to watch their favorite teams play. The prize distribution ceremony was compered by Parvez Ali. The prizes were distributed by KWAR advisors Abdul Hameed Wenz and Mohd Nawaz Gurupur.

KWAR president Ramesh Shetty thanked each and every participating team for making the tournament successful. He also thanked the tournament sponsors, Ashok Shetty of Soft Touch, Abdul Hameed of Wenz Collections, and Ashok of M Rayan and Sathosh Shetty of Kadesiah Medical Center.

Fixtures of Karavali Cricket Tournament were also taken during the event. 16 teams will contest in the tournament which will start on October 15. The Winning teams will be felicitated during the upcoming event ‘Karavali Parba 2010’, which will be held on November 26.

Karavali Welfare Association Riyadh (KWAR) is a non-profit organization formed in 2008, which is serving the people of Karavali region in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
