Prince Charles Visits Games Village


New Delhi, Oct 3 (IANS) Prince Charles and his wife Camilla visited the Commonwealth Games Village here Sunday and interacted with the athletes and delegates, hours before the gala Games inaugural is set to begin in the evening.

"The prince arrived here at 10.20 a.m. and stayed for about one-and-a-half hours. He took a walk across the Village, including the international zone, and was pleased with the preparations," an official of the Organising Committee said.

The royal couple met President Pratibha Patil Saturday evening at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Prince Charles will be declaring the Games open Sunday evening jointly with President Pratibha Patil at the opening ceremony at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

The heir to the British throne arrived in New Delhi Saturday along with his wife and was received by the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi.
