Hindu outfit threatens to lock up Taj Mahal

Agra (UP) Aug 31 (IANS): Members of a fringe outfit called Rashtriya Hindu Parishad (Bharat) staged a protest at the west gate of the Taj Mahal and threatened to lock the monument if action against an ASI staff member who denied entry to a visitor dressed as Lord Krishna is not taken.

The outfit gave a 24-hour ultimatum to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) officials to take action against their staff members who 'insulted' the visitor.

Superintending Archaeologist (Agra circle) Vasant K. Swarnkar said that no promotional activities are allowed at any protected monument without prior permission. The entry was denied as per rules and regulations.

According to officials, there have been several occasions in the past when groups of people donning Ram dupatta were stopped from entering the historical monument.

The incident, according to reports took place on Saturday and the outfit staged a protest on Monday.

Who are they to lock the Taj Mahal? India gets so much of earnings because of the Taj. Taj is one of the seven wonders. These type of outfits are a curse to the world. Hats off to the ASI staff.

Whether it is a mosque, or a structure built on a temple site...whatever it may be, now it is is a national treasure, which fetches revenue to the government. Visitor dressed as Krishna will have painted blue all over his body. If he is allowed to enter, he might unknowingly transfer the paint on to the walls. Hence he was not allowed inside.

What rubbish. It's not a masjid. Its a monument. Whether u build monument on Kabar or on water, it's not haram. Yes, building masjid on Kabar is haram, coz we can't bow (sujood) to any whether alive or dead is strictly not permitted. Can bow only to God.
