Bengaluru: Progressive organizations demand repeal of cow slaughter ban act

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Aug 26: Activists of 'Food Our Right', farmers and progressive organizations have urged the state government to repeal the Karnataka Prevention of Cow Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Act. Addressing a press meet, leaders of progressive organizations claimed that the ban on cow slaughter has in effect snatched away the food of the people belonging to scheduled castes, tribals, Muslims and other minority communities.

"During the lockdown period, schools were closed. This deprived the children of nutritious food. At this time, the government made sure that nutritious food that was available at a reasonable rate also was deprived to them. Scientifically also such a measure is wrong, the organization representatives stated.

Representational image

They said that beef is a nutritious food that plays a major role in driving away anaemia. They added that it meets protein shortage as it has vitamin A, B complex and zinc. The members of the organizations felt that minority community people are being targeted, and the cow slaughter ban act makes people of these communities physically weak and financially feeble.

Why can't people eat what they want? Why enforce your religious views on other religions? If a particular religion doesn't allow you eat then enforce it in your religion why deprive other religions? Are we really in a democratic country?

Beef ban has hurt hindu farmers more than anyone else. A poor farmer, in time of need, used to sell his cattle as a last resort and is deprived of some funds in emergency. Moreover cattle which is either not used for farming or milking is actually a burden on the farmer as the animal has to be fed 3 times a day. BJP simply thinks that beef eaters are suffering, in fact hindu farmers are suffering even more.

What is the problem associating a name with that org? At least one name which has a surname. Without that this article has no meaning. When exported the so called hon'ble agents of the government get foreign exchange . One way to deprive the poor from their income and earn money by ban and the poor farmers have to struggle. Our present ruling government even making the choice for the people what meat they should eat and what is not permitted as if it is their thumb rule.

Government can't afford to feed people but has funds to feed animals. I know animals have the right to live but cattles account for the highest greenhouse gas emissions in the world. A single cattle is a walking biogas plant. They could have sold those cattles to farmers for farming activities since those cows won't be producing milk.

If Indian Government is serious in providing healthy nutritious food for children, promote sports in the country, it should promote Beef as the essential food! Thus with the same logic! Current Government should promote Cow slaughter! Please don't have double standards if you care for your citizens, lift the ban on Cow Slaughter rather proactively subsidize Cow Meat! Better, Healthy, Progressive, Developed India starts with proper Nutrition! Don't have any spiritual emotions attached to Cow, it is domesticated animal. One of the idol had Rat along with him, so should be ban Rat killing! if Rat is treated as pest, why not treat Cow as domesticated animal for Milk, Meat and for other benefits! Promote Beef, Develop India!

"to repeal the Karnataka Prevention of Cow Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Act" Yes it is absolutely right. It is totally personnel matter of following religion, eating habits. Please note that nowadays as there is no resell value for cows, people stopped keeping cows at hope. For example if tomorrow Jain leader will become prime minister he will prevent eating all type of animals/non veg, what you say for that? is it right? Better government not to interfere with religion, and concentrate on development of nation.
