Mumbai, Aug 26: A man was sentenced to five years of imprisonment by the judge of special POCSO court for sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl. Both the victim and mother turned hostile during the trial.

Geetha Sharma, public prosecutor in the case cross examined both the victim and her mother, who was the complainant, after seeking permission of the court and brought the case on record based on the CCTV footage record.

The accused was on bail during the trial and was convicted under section 10 of the act, which attracts a minimum five year jail term. The special public prosecutor argued that the accused would have done more harm to the minor if she did not awaken in the night.
