Mumbai: Businessman arrested for Rs 9 crore GST fraud

Mumbai, Aug 12: Hiten Sheth, proprietor of Mahir Life Care was arrested by the Central Goods and Service Tax (CGST), Bhiwandi commissionerate on Wednesday, August 11 for fraudulently availing Rs 9.38 crore input tax credit against fake invoices issued by fictitious firms.

The firm was said to have received fake GST invoices of Rs 61.52 crore.

Sheth has been remanded to 14 days of judicial custody.
