Kanara Entrepreneurs, CBCI collaborate to promote entrepreneurship, hold Business Plan Competition

Bengaluru/Dubai, Aug 11: Kanara Entrepreneurs (KE), a mutual benefit not-for-profit organization having chapters in Bengaluru and Dubai is conducting a national level Business Plan Competition in an effort to encourage community youngsters to try their hands at business and start-ups.

KE is collaborating with Youth Council of Catholic Bishops Conference of India (CBCI) to help youth from the community to identify and pursue their passion in the field of business.

“As parents and guardians we all give very good education to our children but when it comes to careers in entrepreneurship we do not support much” says Pramod D’Souza, director at KE Bangalore. This competition is a baby step towards larger goal of job creation in this country, he adds.

Fr Chetan Machado, secretary – Youth Council, CBCI feels this is an opportunity for youth who are studying in college or recently graduated, to think of a start-up idea, write down the same as a business plan and participate in this competition.

Clarence Pereira, President – KE Bangalore and co-founder of Deccan Group of companies, hopes many youth will leverage this opportunity and submit innovative ideas / business plans. Ivan Fernandes, Chairman – KE Global, a serial entrepreneur with experience of 30+ years of building multiple start-ups, feels the start-up ecosystem is very conducive for youngsters to come up with new ideas and execute the same.

How to Participate?

Participants need to fill in a one-page business plan and submit. The shortlisting committee would select Top-20 teams going by the busines plans submitted. These twenty teams will get an opportunity to present their business plan to judges over a conference call. Final five teams will then get an opportunity to present their plan in front of a live audience during an KE’s bi-monthly entrepreneurs meet in December where around 200 entrepreneurs are expected to attend.

50K Prize Money

The winners will walk away with an award of Rs 50,000 while the runner-up team will get Rs 25,000. The other 3 finalist teams will get Rs 10,000. In addition, all the team members of these 5 teams will get a one year membership at KE Network, worth Rs 10,620.

Last date for submitting the business plan is September 30, 2021. KE is also organizing a webinar to help participants on how to write a one-page business plan, which is scheduled on August 26 at 8 pm.
