Cricket: KPL II Opens with Song and Dance

Bangalore, Sep 17 (BM): The opening ceremony of the Karnataka Premier League season II was as pleasing as expected. On show were school children, professional dance groups and a troupe that performed Yakashgana to the tune of the KPL anthem, 'Namma KPL'.

The show began behind schedule with noted Kannada film composer Guru Kiran belting out some noted numbers that had the rather small and sparse crowd swaying and singing along.

Surrounded by the eight teams, representing the eight franchisees, dancers then let their bodies do the talking, moving and gyrating to the joy of those gathered around.

The laser lights lit up the evening after Belagavi Panthers put it across Malnad Gladiators in the tournament opener earlier.

The way the beams danced to the music was something to cherish.

The eight captains took the oath to play the game in the spirit of the game. As the fireworks went off with the teams letting out small and yet beautiful lanterns, worked out off the formula of hot-air balloons, the sky looked a sight to behold!
