Goa Tourism Officer's Foreign Trips Under Scanner

Panaji, Sep 10 (PTI) Foreign tours of a senior Goa tourism officer has come under scanner after a former Officer on Special Duty (OSD) filed a complaint with the state Chief Secretary about his non-permitted trips.

Lyndon Monteiro, former OSD to Tourism Department, has written to the Chief Secretary with relevant documents alleging that Nikhil Desai, Managing Director of Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC), did not follow service rules and demanded action against him.

"Desai, on June 2, 2010, travelled to Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore on a private visit without obtaining permission from the state government," the letter said.

Monteiro said as per service rules, it is mandatory for every government servant to obtain permission of the government before leaving the country.

The former OSD has attached duplicates of visas stamped by various countries which confirm Desai's foreign trips.
