Mumbai: Report confirms one-third prison population vaccinated

Mumbai, Jun 25: Almost one-third of the state's prison population has been vaccinated and the number of active Covid cases has considerably reduced, now standing at 20, the Bombay high court informed on Thursday June 24.

State advocate general Ashutosh Kumbhakoni submitted the latest status update in a suo motu public interest litigation (PIL). The HC bench of chief justice Dipankar Datta and Justice Girish Kulkarni recorded its satisfaction at the progress made in prisons to ward off Covid-19 as per the status updated.

The PIL was taken up after news reports showed over 200 Covid cases among prison inmates.
