Karwar: ICYM Karnataka distributes food kits to needy

Karwar, Jun 23: Mission 'Youth for You' is a timely initiative by ICYM Karnataka Region in Karwar diocese under the able leadership of Benreuben S Rodrigues, vice-president and Prajwal R Lopez, Asian MIJARC, chairperson, Food Sovereignty Commission. They have distributed around 400 grocery packets to a total of 20 parishes of the three deaneries Honavar, Kumta and Bhatkal of the two taluks of Honavar and Kumta.

During the last 10 days, the team personally reached out to places and parishes such as Honavar, Shantinagar, Prabhatnagar, Motto, Sanamotto, Mugwa, Hadinbal, Gundibala, Allanki, Mudkani, Matadakeri, Upper Kasarkod, Lower Kasarkod, Honmav, Manaki and Mirjan. They handed over the grocery packets to over 400 needy families. It was a challenging mission to go out to the field during the second wave of the pandemic.

The ICYM team is ever grateful to the generous donors who contributed to such a noble cause. The team is also grateful to the various parish priests and the local youth Leaders of the respective parishes, who have co-operated in the distribution of the grocery packets to the deserving people of their areas. Rannon M Rodrigues and Joyal Soft Drinks company of Kasarkod provided vehicles for the transportation of the distribution as well as for the packaging of the kits. It was through the Youth for You's efforts, concern, generosity of the many donors and co-operation of the parish priests and youth Leaders that many needy families received some timely help.
