Udupi, Jun 23: Under of 'Housing for All' programme of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), houses were distributed to 240 beneficiaries within the city municipal limits.
Out of 460 houses that are under construction at Babbuswamy Layout in Herga village here, which are being built on ground flooor plus three model, 240 houses were given to the beneficiaries.
The beneficiaries were decided through the draw of lots. Ground floor houses were given to differently abled people and senior citizens.
The programme was held in the presence of MLA K Raghupati Bhat.
City municipality president Sumitra R Nayak, vice president Lakshmi Manjunath Kola, councillor Vijayalaxmi, municipal commissioner Uday Shetty, assistant executive engineer of Karnataka Slum Development Board Prasanna Kumar, assistant engineer Sripad, Bank of Baroda divisional manager Ravikumar, Bheem Shankar and contractor Nihal Bhat, were present.
