Mangaluru: ‘All shops in DK to remain open till 2 pm from June 23’ - Kota Poojary

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (DV)

Mangaluru, Jun 22: Dakshina Kannada (DK) district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary informed that all shops in the district can remain open from 6 am till afternoon 2 pm from Wednesday June 23.

Speaking on Tuesday June 22, he said, "As all MLAs in the district have urged and MP Nalin Kumar Kateel also directed to relax the lockdown guidelines, this decision has been taken. Today, I met chief minister (CM) B S Yediyurappa in this regard. The CM also asked us to reduce the Covid-19 positivity rate in the district. He has also asked the chief secretary to allow all the shops from 6 am to afternoon 2 pm from tomorrow.”

He also said that the district administration is in a tough situation. “We should stop unnecessary wandering of the public. All should take the vaccine. We should not violate the Covid-19 guidelines, instead should maintain social distance and avoid public gatherings. As people were facing problems, the CM has taken this decision. I have also asked the deputy commissioner to issue an official order in this regard,” he said.

Corona virus 🦠 is a sickness and managing this is the job of the medical Industry. Not venturing outside is the responsibility of the people. Why the gov is involved in this doing lockdowns and working for the medical industry. Waste of taxpayers money and resources. Plus by locking down the gov itself loosing from earning taxpayers money. Mande unda ijja muklege. 🤦🏻‍♂️

We might be happy by seeing these news. But we lac to abide the guidelines of COVID-19. On a serious note, if things cannot get us back to normal life , no political party or no one else could be blamed. We have brains and let's make make better use of it. It's we as a individual should think about it and strictly implement the guidelines to avoid spread of this pandemic. We want many things to come back to normal life l, but we don't add our efforts towards it. Don't take things lightly or for granted as the rules are eased. Yes we cannot be free until we get rid of this or have good control over COVID-19, so that one day soon we can get back to normal life and have all the fun again. This time do this sacrifice to yourself, so thinking this way may all join hands for a mask free and covid controlled country. WE HAVE ALREADY SEEN THE SEVERITY OF SECOND WAVE, WE HAVE LOST OUR LOVED ONES, LOST JOBS, CLOSED SCHOOLS, NO JOBS, NO SALARIES AND MANY OTHER THINGS. DON'T BE A CARELESS PERSON BUT THINK MANY TIMES BEFORE IT GOES EXTREME. YOU MAY BE A REASON FOR SOMEONE'S TEARS.... PLEASE PLEASE DON'T MISUSE THIS EASE OF LOCKDOWN RULES, STAY HOME, STAY SAFE.... GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

I'm a regular Traveller from Mangalore to Udupi. They stop and ask you to fill some details and where you're going. That's it. I don't know about other districts though, but I'm assuming they're similar.

Nobody is doing any favours to people by this move. They would have done it last month itself if people had put pressure on them. Nobody will compensate our losses from last year to this year, nobody will be exempt from paying electricity bills and interests due on any loans. Time for people to realise they are the masters and politicians and babus are their servants. If people aren't proactive the politicians and babus take us for granted. Never be elated by this relaxation as they didn't had the right to deprive us of our livelihood in the first place.

Dont rely on this as good news.. may be he will announce to shut down every thing from tomorro based on increased PERCENTAGE. They are very keen that we should not die from covid but no problem if they die of no work no food. They open lockdown so gracefully as if everything is free from tomoro

I am not that much interested in extending the time for purchase items. Because present 4 hours was sufficient . But I am very much interested and waiting for, when Karnataka legislative Assembly session will start because I think our representatives are completely forgotten the Assembly.

If the barber has to follow Covid SOP he will have to cut hair from a distance of 2 meters!!! On a lighter note long hair, beard and moustache will trap the virus ,maybe our PM thinks so...

If this same decision was taken at least a month before of keeping open Super markets / Meat and fish markets up to 2pm instead of up to9am the crowd in super market etc. Would have been less and the number of corona cases would have come down. Every Supermarket/ Grocery shops / veg market and meat and fish market was crowded during earlier timings.

Good move ..The govt should be clear on the numbers and reasons for the hike in DK district .. are people here really careless ? or is it because of inbound covid patients to hospitals from outside districts. what are the exact reasons ? The govt should release report on number of tests and area of covid hotpots .. there is need of macro management to avoid third wave and control the current case load

This move should've been taken long time back. The positive cases became more just because of 6 to 10 time slot. The 4 hrs crowd turned into super spreader of virus.

It takes nearly 15 years to test the vaccine. In a Hurry green signal is given to take vaccine. FREEDOM OF CHOICE SHOULD BE GIVEN TO AN DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY. D GOVT SHOULD NOT MAKE IT MANDATORY. AFTER VACCINATED, THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT U ARE CORONO FREE. THE CHOICE IS YOURS... SIDE EFFECT OR ZERO EFFECT
