Billavara Association Celebrates Narayan Guru’s Birth Anniversary

Mumbai, Aug 26: The 156th birth anniversary of Narayana Guru was celebrated by Billavara Association at Billava Bhavan, Santacruz (East), here on Wednesday August 25.

The Association president Jaya C Suvarna presided over the programme.  Renowned speaker Dr Ganesh Amin Sankamar was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, he said that one cannot be proud of his caste or community, if he lacks moral strength.  The social service should not be restricted to community; instead it should benefit the entire society, he added.



He urged the community to bring up their children by teaching the lessons from their hardships so that they will understand the harsh realities that would enable them to become responsible citizens of country.  The peace in families will reign, if the community lives by the ideals of Tulunadu legendary icons, Koti – Chennaya and follow the teachings of Guru Narayana, said Sankamar.

Swami Niranjan of Annapurneshwari temple, Sunkadakatte, Bajpe, Mangalore and Baba Suvarna of Mahashesha Rundamaline temple Powai, here also graced the occasion.

Swami Niranjan said that caring for the elderly leads to heavenly bliss.  The youth should be encouraged to live by the ideals of Guru Narayan, which would lead them to peace and happiness.

The Association honorary chief secretary Jyothi K Suvarna, honorary president Y Nagesh, Akshaya, monthly bulletin honorary editor M B Kukyan, vice president L V Amin, Nithyanand D Kotian, social–religious committee president C T Salian, joint treasurer Mahesh Karkala, women wing president Jayanti V Ullal, Seva Dal chief Ganesh K Poojary and others were present on the dais.

Mohini Suvarna offered the prayers.  Mohandas G Poonary welcomed the gathering.  The Association honorary chief secretary Jyothi K Suvarna compered the programme.  Dharmapal G Anchan proposed the vote of thanks.

Bharat Co-operative Bank chairman Vasudev R Kotian, media entrepreneur Sarvottam Anchan Vanila, Haleyangady Billava Sangh vice- president Chandrashekar Sanil and Vaman G Kotian were present.
