Healthcare at affordable costs: Manipal Arogya Card launched

Udupi, Jun 9: Manipal Arogya Card 2021 launched on Wednesday, June 9 through a virtual program. Dr H S Ballal, pro-chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal launched the Manipal Arogya Card 2021 and said, “It gives me immense pleasure to launch Manipal Arogya Card 2021, which has now completed 20 years of providing quality healthcare at affordable costs to our community. This year's motto is Manipal Arogya Card: 'For the Whole Family With Great Value, Trusted Care.' Initially, this scheme started for the people of the undivided Dakshina Kannada district and now this scheme extends to more than 12 districts of coastal Karnataka and central Karnataka including Davanagere, Chitradurga, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, and Bellary etc., and also to neighbouring states like Kerala, Goa.
 
 
Lt Gen (Dr) M D Venkatesh, vice-chancellor, MAHE, announcing the scheme said, “Manipal Arogya Card (MAC) was incepted with an aim to make quality healthcare treatment affordable to the public. It offers benefits on the complete range of healthcare services. By paying a small amount, anybody can become a member and avail of the benefits. The money invested in buying the card will be received back in the form of discounts in just two or three uses of the card. This 21st year of Manipal Arogya Card also includes one year and two-year scheme. The cardholder can avail benefits of medical and dental services across our hospitals at Manipal, Karkala, Mangaluru, Goa and Kateel."
 
"For one year scheme, individual membership for one person, at Rs 300, family membership includes his/her spouse and any number of unmarried children below 25 years at Rs 600 and family plus membership includes individual spouse, any number of unmarried children below 25 years and up to four parents including in-laws at Rs 750 which is the additional benefit. For two year scheme, individual at Rs 500, family at Rs 800 and family plus at Rs 950."
 
"With the Manipal Arogya Card, one can avail a discount of 50% on consultation fee for both specialist and super-specialist doctor, 30% discount on diagnostics and laboratory investigations, 20% discount on radiology investigation, OPD procedures and diabetic foot care, Rs 100 on dialysis, up to 12% on the medicines purchased from the hospital pharmacy and 25% concession on inpatient bill excluding consumables and packages in the general ward, and 10% discount on Covid-19 government-approved package for all cash-paying patients in general wards,” he added.
 
Dr PLNG Rao, pro-vice-chancellor, MAHE, Manipal said, “At this moment I heartfully thank all the people who work relentlessly towards ensuring Manipal Arogya Card reaches to all corners of the society and special thanks to all our Manipal Arogya Card agents who are working in remote areas to publicize and strive hard to enrol people into this scheme."
 
Dr Sharath K Rao dean, KMC, Manipal welcomed the gathering, Saghir Siddiqui, regional COO, Mangaluru, proposed the vote of thanks. Dr Dilip G Naik, pro-vice-chancellor of Mangaluru campus, Dr M V Prabhu, dean KMC, Mangaluru, C G Muthana, chief operating officer and Dr Avinash Shetty, medical superintendent of Kasturba Hospital, Dr Anand Venugopal and Dr John Ramapuram, medical superintendent of KMC, Mangaluru, Sachin Karanth head of marketing were present.

    Atleast OPD consultation min. Twice a year should have been free. Facilities on this card looks not so tempting for OPD patients comapring to other hospitals.

    What happened to konkani arogya cards ?! , is it discontinued ?, one use to get full free coverage upto by paying 500 rs per year ..
