Bengaluru, Jun 9: Two kingpin journalists who allegedly worked with a lady to trap former minister Ramesh Jarkiholi in sleaze CD case, secured anticipatory bail on Tuesday June 8. The accused, Naresh Gowda and Shravan, were granted anticipatory bail by the 91st city civil and sessions court here.

The accused had gone underground as soon as the case came to light. They had filed for anticipatory bail from a secret location. The court, after hearing arguments, upheld their plea.

Ramesh Jarkiholi had filed complaint in Sadashivanagar police station here, accusing the concerned of creating fake CD with the clear aim of his character assassination. As there is possibility of the police arresting them, Naresh and Shravan had sought anticipatory bail.

The special investigation team (SIT) was told by Jarkiholi at the time of the complaint that he was blackmailed for money. During the SIT hearing, Ramesh Jarkiholi said that the sexual relationship he had with the lady was consensual. Advocate for the accused had argued that the allegation about money changing hands in the case has no substance.

In the meanwhile, the aggrieved lady has approached the high court seeking to annul the order passed by the city police commissioner forming a special investigation team to investigate her complaint. The single judge bench of the high court which heard the petition ordered issuance of notices to parties concerned.
