New Delhi: Ryan Int'l Students Achieve Global Discovery of Asteroid

New Delhi, Aug 17: Ryan International School, Rohini students – Amonjot Singh and Sahil Wadhwa of class XII has brought honour to the school and country by discovering an asteroid in the orbit of Mars.



The research was conducted in association with the Space Astronomy Club as part of the All India Asteroid Search Campaign. Under the able guidance, vision and inspiration of founder chairman Dr Augustine Francis Pinto and managing director Grace Pinto, this achievement of Ryanites adds another feather to their cap.

The asteroid 2010 PO24 has been notified by the International Astronomical Search Collaboration (IASC), Texas. The students will have the opportunity to name the asteroid which is temporarily designated 2010 PO24. Special software called Astrometrica was given to these two students to analyze these pictures on 3 parameters – graph, their movement and SNR value.
