Bengaluru: 'Are Kannadigas orphans?' - Kumaraswamy fumes at centre for depriving oxygen to state

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, May 13: "As Karnataka suffered from acute shortage of oxygen, the central government was approached with a request for additional quantum of oxygen. The Supreme Court too upheld the state high court order to supply 1,200 metric tonnes of oxygen to the state. Still, only 120 tonnes of oxygen has been supplied to our state. Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, in a series of tweets, has taken on the centre for this step motherly treatment.

He said that the Supreme Court had upheld the state high court order to supply 1,200 metric tonnes of oxygen to Karnataka per day. He pointed out that even then, the central government provided only 120 metric tonnes of oxygen to Karnataka. He mentioned that Uttar Pradesh, which has fewer cases than Karnataka, has been provided with 1,680 metric tonnes of oxygen. "The central government has excelled in discriminatory treatment. Are the Kannadigas orphans in this gang?" he wondered.

Kumaraswamy referred to the figures provided by the government to prove that Karnataka has been sidelined. He wanted to know why the centre has so much indifference towards the needs of Karnataka. "Could this be because the state is ruled by the BJP, or for electing highest number of BJP Lok Sabha members, or to make Yediyurappa the villain?" he questioned.

He asked the centre to give equal preference to all the states and meet the emergency needs of states first. He warned that if the state is neglected, the people may revolt. Pinpointing at the supply of seven lac doses of vaccines to Karnataka as against the demand for three crore doses, the centre again is found to be discriminating. Will those who always support the BJP in all fronts be able to justify this injustice? Are they prepared to take responsibility for the deaths of Kannadigas?" he questioned. He noted that the BJP MPs have thanked Modi for giving 120 tonnes of oxygen instead of 1,200. He wanted to know why he is being thanked, and advised the BJP supporters to stop being the stooges. He also urged those who are justifying the centre to realise that first they are Kannadigas and oxygen is the need of the hour for Karnataka. He said that the state has suffered discrimination in the matter of grants and compensations, and advised people not to again silently suffer another discrimination.

He is not the only cry baby. He is among those who demanded that the decision of lockdown be with the state. Finally lockdown was imposed. States have full flexibility of buying vaccines from wherever they want - today, there is shortage of vaccines. These are the very people who first cried foul of the vaccine when it was first announced. All the good that happens is because of us. All ills are because of Centre. Politics in full glory. When he tested positive, he got 5-star treatment when most people had difficulty finding bed in Bangalore. He did not feel that he was orphaned then.

The discrimination is an ongoing affair with successive regimes at the Centre. The Congress, BJP or any kichdi government at the Centre has only exploited the state. No chief minister including Kumaraswamy has shown any guts to confront the central government with the legitimate needs of the state. They have allowed the neighbouring states to prosper at our cost be it water sharing, industrial and infrastructure development or border issues. The establishment and success of a strong regional party is the only answer to resurrect Karnataka's fortune.

Most developed state in India with very able Kalla Sanyasi as CM of the state. 17 deaths in a month in a single village tell the story of a state. News paper spoke to the families of 11 of them and confirmed the presence of symptoms, such as fever, cough, cold, headache and breathlessness, before death. “For days, we believed it was the usual sardi-khasi (cold and cough). Then, people started dying, and we panicked,” Of the 17, local residents say 15 were not tested for Covid, or taken to a hospital. And this is why, they say, official records show only two Covid deaths from the village of 3,000 in April. “The eighteenth death was of a young girl, who had a congenital heart condition and had no symptoms of Covid at all,”. Bhakths will say, this is anti national to publish this story.
