Mangaluru, May 13: As no permission has been given to hold namaz in the mosques on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr because of coronavirus-induced restrictions, the mosques remained deserted on Thursday May 13.

The Idgah mosque at Light House Hill, Pumpwell mosque, Khude Ali Jumma Masjid etc which used to witness huge crowds on Eid to offer namaz and to exchange greetings, were devoid of people's movement.

As offering of namaz has been banned in mosques or other places, people offered special prayers at their homes. After offering prayers along with family members, they exchanged greetings.

Because of the lockdown that has been clamped in the state, the Muslims have stayed this time away from their seasonal shopping relating to this festival. They are celebrating the festival in a simple way as advised by the district Qazi. The religious leaders have also given a call for offering prayers for a corona-free India.

Earlier, Dakshina Kannada district Qazi, Twaka Ahmed Musliyar, had appealed to the people of the district to remain at home and celebrate Eid in a simple way. He reminded them that it is the duty of everyone to stick to the guidelines framed by the state government and the district administration to thwart advancement of coronavirus infection.

"Coronavirus pandemic has invaded the world and everyone is working very hard to defeat it. The government has announced lockdown and banned meetings and functions. No one should move around unnecessarily and offer the Eid Namaz at their homes. They have to offer special prayers seeking to get rid of corona from the world," he said in his Eid message.

It is good to observe that all communities take adequate care to refrain from large gatherings even during festivals. Let us hope that the present situation improves and normalcy returns.

Ahmed Mangalore Ramdhaan announced previous night of fasting. From next day after Fajr begins. How anybody viewed Crescent Moon either in 11th of April at Night and 12th of Morning when Amavas is there. Scientifically its wrong. After viewing Crescent Moon only fasting starts. It means fasting starts in Saudi Arabia and people of Kerala and DK started to fast a day of Amavas. Other parts of India followed correctly.

Vicky, Why are you so concerned. We are the one's fasting. What's your problem? Scientifically it is not proven to do 'Gobarsnan' and drinking 'GoMutra' will not invite corona ;) ;) ;). Did you?
