Mangaluru, May 10: A meeting was held at the MCC auditorium on May 10 where task forces were formed for different wards in the leadership of respective corporators. The task force will consist of corporator, residents of the ward or activists, a medical officer serving in the primary health centre, a social worker and an ASHA health worker.

The task force has been entrusted with the duty of registering the details of those who are corona-positive. They will have to ensure that the infected are obtaining necessary treatment along with collecting details of people who were in their primary or secondary contact. The task force will further have the responsibility to ensure that the infected contacts remain in quarantine. The task force will have to either paste a poster on the residences of the infected so that people steer clear of the area or declare it as a containment zone.

They must also ensure that the infected complete the required quarantine period. At the meeting, it was also decided to provide the task force with a transportation facility. Suggestions were also made to implement a mobile RT-PCR system.

It was also decided that the task force will help with providing groceries to those who are in home quarantine.

Discussions were held with the deputy commissioner to ensure that the Covid test results are provided to the people in the shortest time possible. In the meeting, it was highlighted that people visiting market places and shops were not wearing masks in the manner which is required, following which police officials were directed to take disciplinary action.

In the meeting, it was also stressed that Covid guidelines such as wearing masks, maintaining social distance, using hand sanitisers were followed to control the second wave of coronavirus.
